Dr. Ortega’s clinical interests include complex and challenging fractures, including the treatment of polytraumatic injuries, upper and lower extremity periarticular fractures, fracture nonunions, fracture and soft-tissue complications, pelvis/acetabular fractures, and anterior hip and shoulder replacements.

 He continues his research interests with ongoing projects in Orthoinformatics and technological advancements in relation to improving patient care, recovery and satisfaction.

Dr. Ortega serves as Co-Director of the group’s orthopaedic trauma fellowship and is responsible for leading the educational development and training within the orthopaedic trauma fellowship program. He is an assistant professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix Medical School, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Arizona State University’s College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation. He very much enjoys teaching fellows and medical students. He also serves as the Sports Medicine Advisory Team Orthopaedic Trauma Consultant for Arizona State University. In addition, he has been nominated by his colleagues as Scottsdale Osborn Hospital’s Medical Staff President.

Honorees are honored at an awards ceremony at the Biltmore Resort in Phoenix. This was the fifth year that TELEMUNDO Arizona and the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has carried out this award ceremony in Arizona which was originated 20 years ago in San Jose, California. The Hispanic Business Salute mission is to promote the progress of our community to shape the leaders of tomorrow.

HBS (Hispanic Business Salute) aims to recognize and celebrate the positive impact of Hispanic businesses in our community while at the same time fulfill their responsibility to support those who aspire to finish college and become future leaders of society.

Dr. Ortega also announced on social media,”I’m very excited and honored to part of the new Mayo Scottsdale Orthopaedic residency program, as its orthopedic trauma director. I look forward to helping train our future orthopedic surgeons once again! Congratulations to our two new residents that started yesterday”.
